KISS diet

No KISS does not mean getting friendly with another dieter, it simply means ’Keep It Simple Stupid!’ It is an old and widely recognised acronym and justifiably so. The easier something is to follow the easier it will be to actually follow it.
So what exactly is the KISS principle to dieting?
Your body burns fuel all the time, which is why we are hot blooded animals. The fuel we burn is the food that we eat. What we don’t burn we either bin or we store as fat which is just stored up fuel. If we don’t get enough fuel from food we then burn the fat stores. The measurement of the fuel is calories.
So what we are looking to do is define the average fuel requirements per day for men and women and then take off some of that to ensure we are burning up those fat stores
KISS is therefore a diet principle that allows you to eat what you like, when you like as long as you do not breech a target calorie level. For men that level is 2,000 per day and for ladies it is 1,500. If you do not exceed these amounts then you will start to lose weight naturally. If you need to adjust the level just weigh yourself after 2 weeks and alter as required. You should target losing 1lb (.5kg) per week although double that is quite normal. Any more is just too much for healthy steady progress.
If it were that easy then surely all diet companies would be shouting about it no? Well not necessarily. You see diet companies do manage the process for you typically and KISS does require you to actually read the calories in the food you eat and sometimes even weigh it. You also need to record it somewhere and there are some great sites online that help with that (try www.fitday.com… it is free and very good). Or next time you want to buy yourself a treat invest in a Garmin forerunner 305.
Saying that though if you are willing to take the time to do that then those simple numbers will be all you need to focus on and in time you will slowly but surely become the new you that you want to see, all by keeping it simple. Clever eh?
